Hello, my name is Alex.
I am a freelance designer and coder based in New York City Bangkok. My work is alike that of a toy maker — bringing new interactive and playful ideas into the world that make people smile.
This was created by repurposing old analog televisions and an ancient analog medical printer previously used for ultrasounds. It needed to work in a dark environment, so a depth camera was used to cutout the people and place them in the glitched out scenes. It was created using TouchDesigner and some custom electronics. Permanently installed at the Daze studio/event space, and also sometimes used in NYC events.
Contact Us — You gotta play the game to contact Dark Igloo
Collect coins along the way in the Mario Kart inspired racing game. The number of coins you collect determines the number of characters available for your email to Dark Igloo, which you write upon completion. Created with Javascript, Threejs, and Blender.
Unpossible — A handheld gaming device full of possibilities
This ambitious personal project was to create a low-cost 60fps handheld gaming device that can support a range of games through the orientation-agnostic and multi-input design. Made some great progress and hope to revisit this concept sometime in the future when the cost of the graphic chip and memory drop. Created with 3D printing, Fusion360, custom electronics, and lots of C code.

3dtext2gif — Create 3D animated stickers from whatever you write
Animated 3D text has always been tedious to create. So I coded 3dtext2gif so anyone can quickly create their own custom 3D animated stickers. These stickers can be pasted into emails, presentations, chats, and even Instagram stories. Created with Javascript and Threejs.
Pixie Chess — Chess with new moves, new pieces, and crypto earnings
I helped the team early on with the transition from a 2D game experience into a more stylistic and modernized 3D game experience. Created playable 3D demos and explored various graphic and rendering styles. Created with Javascript, Threejs, Shaders, and Blender.
This party experience connects the GIF photo booth to a live VJ, who creates a wild and ever-changing dance party spectacle. Anyone at the party can make a dance GIF, then immediately see themselves join the digital party that is projected for all to see. We booked many events between 2015 and 2020 - raves, art shows, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, corporate events, expos. There were many versions over the years, some supported up to six projectors at clubs and events, while others focused on generating mini shareable GIF parties from our booth. It first started as a website and later evolved into this IRL party experience. Created with C++ and OpenFrameworks.

Lost For You — Interactive music video for the band GIFT
I am excited to work on any project that draws inspiration from the Solitaire win screen. Created this interactive music video to showcase one of their songs. Created with Javascript and Threejs.
Memory Floss — Draw iconic characters from memory and sort them by loss
A fun workshop I ran at IDEO that asked everyone to draw iconic characters from memory in just a few minutes. The drawings were then displayed in the office along a memory loss axis.

Fort Standard — 3D shopping experience for a modern furniture brand
A 3D shopping and customization experience for this Brooklyn based furniture company. Also added AR capabilities so the furniture can be previewed in the home. Created with Javascript, Threejs, SolidWorks, Blender.
Masterlist — Photographing the iconic McMaster-Carr product catalog
You have probably seen the iconic big yellow catalog on a shelf or in a shop. The first print was in 1908 and they are still printing today. It became the go-to catalog for machinists, inventors, makers, mechanics, and engineers. Famously using illustrations to show their products. Greg Wolos and I created Masterlist as a type of love letter to the McMaster-Carr catalog.
